The biggest benefits of blockchain technology according to Thomas Muller

5 questions from Thomas Muller | CEO | evan.network:
1. How is your company applying/ advising on blockchain?
Sustainability and service orientation require an increasingly intensive cooperation between companies. The key for good cooperation is a trustworthy relationship between the individual parties – especially in the digital world. Therefore, we provide a blockchain-based technology giving each company and each product a digital identity, which in turn can be trustworthily verified. Our goal is to create an ecosystem of trust for manufacturing companies where everyone retains sovereignty over their own data.
2. What were the biggest challenges, &/or benefits, in using blockchain technology?
One of the main benefits of blockchain technology is the recovery of data sovereignty, which is why the technology is often associated with a revolution or transition towards a digitally sovereign society. However, this process requires much more than that: It involves a change from passive service users towards an active approach shaping digital living and business environments. It is therefore necessary to speak of an evolution rather than a revolution. After all, the new technologies do not replace work on social processes, but rather support them in the best case. That’s why the biggest challenge or question in my view is whether society will make this change towards greater sovereignty and thus require technologies like blockchain on a large scale.
3. What is your company’s roadmap for the rest of 2020 and what should we expect to see from your team in the next 12 months?
Our focus is to make the usability of decentralized technologies around blockchain, DID and verifiable credentials for companies as easy as possible. We want to enable them to integrate these technologies into their daily workflows improving their business processes in the long term. Therefore, we have developed TRUST&TRACE, a software solution that enables medium-sized companies to collaborate efficiently with their partners, providing greater supply chain transparency and thus making the manufacturing process and use of products traceable.
4. How are you seeing the rate of adoption of blockchain in the last couple of months?
We can see that especially use cases with a clear purpose and added value prevail in the market. Blockchain as a technology moves further into the background while the actual use case takes center stage. This is a good thing, because in the end it’s all about the real benefits that the technology brings: We therefore see blockchain as the basis for developing solutions that further improve social and corporate processes.
5. Who is your hero/mentor in this space: what lessons have you learned from them and how have you applied them in your career?
From a company perspective the best mentors in this field are our customers and partners, because together with them we develop corresponding solutions and learn new things every day. This includes understanding the problems that arise in the end-to-end digitization of companies and how we can help to tackle these challenges. An ongoing knowledge exchange is very valuable to us, because this way we can constantly improve the products we develop – and thus help to further enhance the digital business world.
Our world series conferences are constantly evolving to meet the demands of our current global situation and the blockchain ecosystem.
