5 questions from Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad |Chief Operating Officer |Bitpanda
- How is your company applying advising on/ exploring digital assets?
Bitpanda believes in the power of digital assets as a new investment class. We actively educate people via the Bitpanda academy (https://www.bitpanda.com/academy/en). Additionally Bitpanda brings the characteristics of digital assets like Bitcoin (buying fractions, trading 24/7 and transfer it easily) to other asset classes like precious metals (e.g. gold)
- What were the biggest challenges, &/or benefits, in using blockchain technology?
Due to the nature of all different kinds of Blockchains, in-depth knowledge is needed to integrate them. Bitpanda is operating a dedicated Blockchain engineering team, however finding good talent with in-depth Blockchain know-how is one of the biggest challenges currently in Europe. So is adoption of the technology too.
- What is your company’s roadmap for the rest of 2020 and what should we expect to see from your team in the next 12 months?
Bitpanda launched a Crypto Index product where you can the top5, top10 and top25 crypto assets (based on market capitalization) in October this year. The customer directly buys the physical crypto assets and it gets automatically adjusted each month to reflect the current market.
- How are you seeing the rate of adoption of crypto assets in the last couple of months?
Market volatility has strongly increased from August this year onwards, nevertheless a hype or bull run is not (yet) starting.
- Who is your hero/mentor in this space: what lessons have you learned from them and how have you applied them in your career?
Paul Klanschek (One of the three founders of Bitpanda) has been an active part of the crypto space since 2010 and therefore among the first Europeans who got in touch with Bitcoin. He not just offers his extensive knowledge to me everyday, but I value him highly as a sparring partner too.
